Richard J. Rahr, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville. He was born August 29, 1934 in Wellsville the son of the late Henry and Carmel (Smith) Rahr. On July 24, 1965 in Wellsville he married Donna Magee who predeceased him on January 17, 2009.

Dick graduated from Wellsville High School. After graduation he joined the U. S. Coast Guard and served as an Aviation Ordnance 3. He later graduated from Alfred State College, and was employed at Worthington/Dresser Rand Corporation for 33 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wellsville.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda (Rick Moses) Baker of Addison, a son John (Melanie) Rahr of Horseheads, four grandchildren, Mary “Maggie” (Shawn Peterson) Stevens, Teague (Ashley Tostanoski) Baker, Meredith (Stephanie Stewart) Rahr and Thomas Rahr, five great-grandchildren, Damian, Chevy, Zzyzx, Ivar, and Odin, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rahr of Wellsville, special friends, Roy and Rosemary Cole of Scio, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Earl, Marion “Gus” Moir, and Rita Childs and a brother, Carl Rahr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 36 Maple Avenue in Wellsville. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
