Richard “Rick” Rice entered into rest unexpectedly after a brief illness February 3, 2025. Born November 11, 1957 in Hornell, NY he was the son of James and Margaret (Strait) Rice Sr.
Beloved husband of Vivien (Manry) Rice. Beloved father of Eric (Jennifer) Rice, Andera (Chris) Clark and Timothy Rice. Cherished grandfather of Collin, Mckenna, Madison, Bradley, and Savannah. Dear brother of Karen Rice, Monica (Tom) Flaitz and James Rice Jr. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Rick was a custodian for the Buffalo Schools for many years, retiring in 2023. He touched the lives of many children & faculty members with his kindness & patience. In his spare time he enjoyed going to car races, watching his grandchildren participate in their hobbies, & working on small motors. Rick loved God & country, but his family was his passion, & pride & joy. Rick & Vivien have been united together for 53 beautiful years & their love is what every couple strives to have. He always modeled kindness, love & especially generosity with his time & selflessness to his family & others.
Friends may call Wednesday February 12, 2025 from 1-4 at the Taylor & Reynolds Funeral Home, 70 Niagara Street, Lockport NY 14094, where Services will be held at 4:00 pm with Pastor Shannon Brumfield will be officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
