Alfred State Western Equestrian team wraps up regular season with a strong showing

The Alfred State College Western Equestrian team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of strong showings in their final competition before the IHSA Western Regionals. The Pioneers were the Reserve Hi-Point team for both the AM and PM show.

Ashley Herbert (Spencerport, NY) earned reserve Hi-Point rider honors during the AM show by finishing 5th in Level 2 Horsemanship and 1st in the Ranch Riding competition. In the PM show she was 5th in Level 2 Horsemanship and 2nd in Reining.

Jessalyn Corson (Apalachin, NY) was 1st in Beginner Horsemanship in the morning and 3rd in Rookie A horsemanship in the afternoon. Abby Thomas (Lansing, NY) won her Beginner Horsemanship competition in the AM and was 3rd in the PM.

Molly Arnold (Dryden, NY) was 2nd in Rookie A Horsemanship in the PM, Bridgett Barrett (Cayuta, NY) was 2nd in Beginner Horsemanship in the afternoon, and Louis Rivera (Manhattan, NY) was 2nd in the Beginner Horsemanship in the PM. Mikenna Riethmiller (North Collins, NY) was 2nd in Open Horsemanship and 3rd in Ranch Riding in the afternoon show.

Arnold, Corson, Herbert, and Riethmiller will represent Alfred State in the Western Regionals. The event will be held at Alfred University’s Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center.
