Prosecutor Ian M. Jones tackles attempted murder and probation violations

Defendant’s Name:  Shawn I. Deahn

Address:  Genesee, New York       

Charges:      Attempted Murder 2nd (B violent felony):
Assault 1st (B violent velony);
Criminal Contempt 1st (E felony);
Criminal Possession of Weapon 3rd (D felony).             

Court Appearance Date:  December 7, 2022

Proceedings:  Shawn Deahn plead guilty to all counts of his indictment in County Court on Wednesday.  The defendant admitted to stabbing his victim in the chest multiple times back on August 11th, 2022, with the intention of killing him.  Deahn will be sentenced on February 2, 2023.

Defendant’s Name:  Devon Diers

Address:  Belmont, New York       

Charges:  Violation of Probation

Court Appearance Date:  December 7, 2022

Proceedings:  Devon Diers returned Allegany County Court for an alleged violation of his probation conditions.  Diers was found to be in violation of his probation and sentenced to 4 months in the Allegany County Jail.

Prosecuting Attorney:  Ian M. Jones, Assistant District Attorney     

Defendant’s Name:  Jeremy A. Ward

Address:  Belmont, New York       

Charges:  Violation of Probation

Court Appearance Date:  December 6, 2022

Proceedings:  Jeremy Ward was back in court facing allegations that he violated his probation.  Ward ultimately admitted his failure to comply with probation and 1st Assistant District Attorney, Ian M. Jones, argued for a state prison sentence as a result.  Ward was sentenced to 2 years in state prison followed by 3 years of post-release supervision.
