Allegany County Trap Neuter Return rescue team found Velvet in dire condition

By Andrew Harris

Carrie Jefferds is on the streets of Wellsville and Allegany county rescuing cats and kittens almost non-stop. The latest recovery was a very desperate case, a little kitten still alive but with serious injuries, specifically a necrotic eye.

While Jefferds has successfully been able to have hundreds of cats spayed/neutered over the years, eye surgery is different animal economically. Her many followers on social media have stepped up to start helping. Read Velvet’s story from recent reports from Jefferds:

“Velvet is a 7 week old kitten who was found under a house alone. She has extensive eye damage due to infection and will need the surgery to remove her eye in order to save her life. Please consider donating any amount to help Velvet have a good life that she deserves. Facebook takes care of the donation processing with no fees.”

A few hours later, she posted this happy report on fundraising:

“Velvet update. She had her consultation today. The eye needs to be removed ASAP. She is scheduled for surgery Saturday. Please send positive thoughts and such until then! Velvet is a very small kitten so any kind of surgery is dangerous. Thank you for your support so far! Because of YOU Velvet has a chance at a good life. We love you Velvet!”

Of course this doesn’t mean that Velvet is free and clear, or that her expenses are paid for. You can keep the momentum flowing and fund Carrie’s efforts for this kitten, and the one she will likely rescue tomorrow. Find out more and contact Carrie here: https://alleganycountytnr.com/
