Voters of Scio NY to vote on $5.74 million dollar capital improvement project

Referendum will take place October 18 at the Rigby Gym

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Education of the Scio Central School District, Allegany County, New York, has scheduled a special meeting of the qualified voters of said District to be held in the Rigby Gym Foyer, 3968 Washington Street, Scio, New York, on October 18, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. (noon), with polls to be open between the hours of 12:00 p.m. (noon) and 8:00 p.m., for the purpose of voting upon the following proposition:

PROPOSITION NO. 1

Shall the Board of Education of the Scio Central School District, Allegany County, New York (the “District”) be authorized to undertake a capital improvement project consisting of alterations, renovations and improvements to the District’s  school buildings and associated facilities, including improvements to the District’s main building, bus garage, outdoor playground facilities, site improvements for various school purposes, and other appurtenant and related improvements, and the acquisition and installation in and around the foregoing improvements of original furnishings , equipment, machinery, apparatus and technology improvements, and preliminary and incidental costs related thereto; for a total aggregate maximum cost of $5,750,000, and to raise the necessary funds therefor by a tax upon the taxable property of said District to be levied and collected in annual installments in the years and in the amounts as the Board of Education shall determine, with such tax to be partially offset by State aid available therefor and, in anticipation of such tax, by either the issuance of debt obligations of the said School District, in an amount not to exceed such estimated aggregate cost?

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that applications for absentee ballots for voting on the above-referenced proposition may be applied for at the office of the District Clerk, 3968 Washington Street, Scio, New York 14880. Any such application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the date of the vote on the above-referenced proposition, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before such vote, if the ballot is to be picked up personally by the voter. A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots shall have been issued will be available for public inspection during regular business hours in the office of the District Clerk on each of the five (5) days prior to the day of the election except Sunday. Absentee ballots must be received in the office of the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on October 18, 2022. 

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the district clerk. In a request for a military ballot application/military ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application/military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. Ballots for military voters shall be mailed, or otherwise distributed, no later than twenty-five (25) days prior to the date of the vote. All absentee ballots

including military must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on October 18, 2022.
