State and local police make multiple animal cruelty arrests

State troopers arrest a pair from Scio and Wellsville Village Police make arrest on Harder Place

Amity-based State Police report the arrests of 43-year-old Leah E. McCabe and 44-year-old Thomas W. McCabe, both of Scio. Each was charged with torture/injuring/not feeding an animal as well as abandonment of animals. They’ll answer the charges in Scio Town Court at a later date.

Wellsville Police arrested Dorris M. Tyler, age 35 of Wellsville, charging her with Torture/Injure/Not feed animals. The charge stems from an incident that took place on Harder Place in July of 2022. Tyler was processed, issued an appearance ticket and released. Tyler is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on September 20th at 4:30 pm. Wellsville Police were assisted by the Allegany County SPCA animal cruelty Investigator.

In other local police action:

Wellsville Police arrested Johnathon M. Conklin, age 30 of Andover, charging him with Menacing 2nd. The charge stems from an incident that took place on Central Place in the Village. Conklin was issued an appearance ticket and released. Conklin is due to appear in Wellsville Village Court on August 16th at 4:30 pm.

After investigating a domestic dispute, Troopers say they arrested Christopher D. Vargas, 23, of Wellsville. He was charged with one felony count of third-degree criminal mischief. It’s alleged Vargas caused more than $250 in property damage. He was issued an appearance ticket for court.
