Not long after the conclusion of tonight’s debate in Manhattan, Zeldin issued this victory statement:
Congressman Lee Zeldin Wins First NY GOP Primary Debate for Governor
NEW YORK – Tonight, Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1), the Republican Party and Conservative Party designee for Governor, crushed the debate competition, winning the first New York GOP Primary Debate for Governor:
“Tonight, Congressman Zeldin embodied the passion, grit, fight and expertise needed to Save Our State,” said Zeldin for New York spokesperson Katie Vincentz. “Congressman Zeldin not only defended his record of honor and integrity, but laid out his bold vision to end the attacks on our wallets, safety, freedoms and kids’ education. This debate illustrated loudly and clearly why Congressman Zeldin leads his primary opponents by double digits in polls over and over again.”
Immediately before tonight’s debate, Emerson College released a poll showing Congressman Zeldin leading by nearly 20 points over his closest primary challenger.
