Representatives of the Cub Scout Pack 733 and Boy Scout Troop 733, students and parents of Immaculate Conception School, and members of the Wellsville Elks Lodge 1495 and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 702 gathered to honor the deceased veterans who are laid to rest in Wellsville’s Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Placing of flags on deceased veterans graves has been a long standing tradition and continues today. Mrs. Mary Ann Newark, an ICS teacher and a member of the Elks, led the group with a prayer for the occasion and Tim Colligan, a member of the Elks and Sons of the American Legion explained to the group the background and meaning of what each fold represents when an American flag is folded into a triangle.

The American Flags are provided by the Wellsville American Legion Post 702.
