Show the Genesee Valley Greenway State Park Some Love on May 7

2 Projects for Volunteers: General Greenway Clean-up or Painting the GVG Trail

All Volunteers meet Saturday May 7th at 9 am to check-in at the Caneadea Town Park Gateway Pavilion, in Houghton College parking lot near Houghton Fire Hall, East side of Rt. 19.

Project 1: 9 am-12 pm: Greenway Clean-Up, a Perfect Opportunity for Families to Volunteer since this project is appropriate for all ages. Volunteers pick up a T-shirt (while supplies last), a heavy duty garbage bag, and are assigned a section along the 6-miles of trail to clean. We are asking volunteers to pick up litter, rake, and remove small sticks that litter the trail in spring. Volunteers should bring gloves, rakes, a hoe (for retrieving litter under bushes), insect repellent, water, and snacks.

Project 2: 9 10 am: Part 1 of Painting Gates- Paint & Tool Pick-up, for ages 13 yrs. and up. Volunteers for this project must register !! Volunteers will be contacted to identify the location of their adopted gate(s). Teams of 2-4 may elect to paint more than one gate and to also paint on Sunday or a later date, when weather permits. T-shirts will be available. Please bring gloves, insect repellent, water, and snacks.

Return Tools &Unused Paint: Arrangements for the return of unused supplies will be made with volunteers prior to May 7 and every effort will be made to minimize the travel distance for volunteers.
