General Manager Paul Welker teases new name will be announced soon….

When the 2022 NYCBL season begins, the Hornell franchise will take the field with a new nickname. The team has decided to retire the Dodgers nickname.

The Dodgers nickname was chosed in 1994 as a tribute to 1950’s PONY League franchise that featured players like Maury Wills and Don Zimmer. The franchise is the longest active member of the NYCBL.

Paul Welker, the general manager of the franchise, is excited to announce and show the community the team’s new identity in the very near future. “In conjunction with MLB and the NYCBL we decided it was the appropriate time to move away from the Dodgers nickname and start a new era with a new nickname. This is a bittersweet moment as we have loved the Dodger nickname but we are super excited to share our new nickname that has different roots in the Hornell community.”

The franchise is excited to start the 2022 season on June 6 when they host the Olean Oilers.
