Public-Private partnership enhances Automotive Department

Monday morning Carquest of Wellsville(Rocco Automotive) opened a satellite store in the Senior Automotive Shop at Alfred State College on the Wellsville Campus. The store will be managed by Justin Gerow and overseen by Curt Burdick who manages the main Wellsville store location.

“We went in and cleaned and painted, put up new signage and put in about $15,000 in inventory supplied by Advance/Carquest and we will be adding another $10,000 in product over the next few months,” Burdick said.

The Wellsville store owner Tony Cimino of Galeton owns 3 stores and now has this satellite store. Cimino explains the reason for expanding his franchise:

“We are here to help the Automotive Department give their students the full feel of what a dealership or larger shop is like. “

The students, instructors and leadership at Alfred State College are all excited to get the store opened and Carquest is excited about the partnership with Alfred State College and looks forward to a bright future with the program.
