Scott Cicirello formally announces candidacy for Allegany County Sheriff

To a packed room of supporters and onlookers at “Off-Duty,” in Belmont NY, Undersheriff Scott Cicirello made it official: He wants to be the next sheriff in town.

Days after sitting Sheriff Rick Whitney announced that he wasn’t seeking re-election, Cicirello launched the first political campaign of his law enforcement career. Legislator Adam Cyr was on hand for the announcement and full of energy about Scott’s ambitions. Cyr had this to say:

“Today Was a great day for Allegany County! Sheriff Whitney was recognized for his 47 years of public service in law-enforcement. Thank you Sheriff!!!

Also Scott Cicirello announced he will be running for sheriff!!! Scott has a big set of shoes to fill, but I believe he will do an amazing job! Scott has a wide range of police and leadership experience with proven results. Scott is a family man, Who loves and respects his people, and wants to make Allegany county a better place to live!

He received overwhelming support he today from the current sheriff, law-enforcement agencies, fire and ambulance agencies, friends, family, and constituents. Scott was supported by five County legislators covering four districts!!! His exemplary record & achievements make me want to support Scott Cicirello for Sheriff!!! Good luck Scott! “

Cyr wasn’t the only county legislators in the crowd. Majority leader Steve Havey, John Ricci, Jim Rumfelt, and Fred Demick were on hand to congratulate both Whitney and Cicirello.
