Depending on the year, a little goldfish pond next to the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth State Park, becomes a national attraction. When temperatures dip well below freezing for extended periods, what is commonly known as the “Ice Volcano” emerges and tourists flock to the park for a picture like this.

This off season attraction is really just a side show, Letchworth State Park was honored as the #1 state park in the United States in 2015 by USA TODAY Readers Choice awards. A great restaurant, many walking trails, an awe-inspiring series of waterfalls, and epic vistas of what is commonly called the “Grand Canyon of the East,” make Letchworth a very special place.
