A Wellsville man who was stabbed Christmas Eve morning is recovering after a surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital and police are continuing the investigation.

Details remain limited on the actual incident. Wellsville Village Police Chief Timothy O’Grady said, “There have been no charges lodged as of now. The investigation is continuing.”

From social media posts by friends and family, it appear the incident took place in or around a vehicle on Route 417 in the village and the victim was able to get to Jones Memorial Hospital.

He was airlifted by MercyFlight helicopter around 7:15 a.m.

A family member said the victim was rushed into surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital and spent Christmas weekend in the Strong Intensive Care Unit before being transferred to a recovery room.

A family member said the suspect is a known female acquaintance. Another family member asked that the public not pry into details as it’s an ongoing investigation.

The Wellsville Sun is withholding the names at this time, as there have been no charges or details released.
