The perfect Wellsville-related gift idea

Why a Women of Wellsville Calendar?

Should women who contributed to the greatness of Wellsville’s past be better known?  YES!!!

Recently, when a small group from the Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society discovered the names and contributions of Wellsville women in the Museum archives, the idea for a calendar was born!

Included in the calendar are twelve women some of whom were civic leaders, who sought to educate, and improve health and opportunities in the Wellsville community.

Several of the featured women were teachers – one of them, Addie Thornton Elwell, taught for 50 years.  Three were accomplished musicians, with Anna Robertson, one of only two women in New York State, at the time, holding a doctorate in Music.

Some of these Wellsville women took over family businesses, which flourished under their leadership after the death of their husbands.

Besides promoting these twelve women, the Women of Wellsville Calendar is a fundraiser for three important causes:  the David A. Howe Library, the Jones Memorial Hospital, and the Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society.

The Women of Wellsville Calendar cost is $15.00 and would make a great Christmas gift! They are available for mailing with an additional charge at the Wellsville NY Historical Society Facebook page.

You can find these calendars for sale locally at the Wellsville Brewery, Tami’s Floral Expressions, the Chamber of Commerce, the David A. Howe Library, the Jones Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, and Today’s Salon.
