VIDEO: Undercover Santa visits Allegany County businesses, sheriff

By JOHN ANDERSON

I noticed Santa was a little out of sorts recently. He had made a donation to families in need and Mrs. Claus had to go cut the hair of the elves.

He only had three things on his list, to check on his workshop, renew his reindeer license and get a valid passport, since Dec. 25 is coming.

So I asked him if he wanted to wear a wire and let me sneak around with a hidden camera and come along on his errands as well as visit some local businesses.

Armed with candy canes and his naughty and nice list, he was ready.

Thanks to the following who allowed us to disrupt their day: Belmont Hardware, Criss Market (Santa ordered extra fish fry’s) Walker Business & Staffing Services, The Shop at Main (Main Street, Wellsville), The Store in Scio, Evans Insurance in Wellsville, From the Hart in Wellsville, Modern Diner, L’Italia, Music Alley, Genesee Valley Media, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department, the county Department of Motor Vehicles, the County Clerk’s Office, The Gathering Place and Needful Things, Prima Salon and Santa’s workshop on the North Pole.

Also, thanks to Laforge Disposal for sponsoring our trip. The businesses above did not know we were coming and did not pay to be in this video. I think they are used to me and Santa by now.

Also, thank you to Jon and Melisa Nickerson of Scio who were able to contact Santa and Mrs. Claus for the video. You know, as close as their friendship is, I’ve never seen them all together in the same place …
