Virtual Community Meeting Planned for October

Northland Power, Inc. is proposing to submit an application to the state Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) in early 2022, to construct the Alfred Oaks Solar Energy Project, a proposed 100 MW solar powered major electric generating facility proposed to be located in the Town of Alfred, Allegany County, New York. This notice announces that on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 7:00 PM, Northland Power, Inc. will be hosting a virtual community meeting for members of the public to learn more about the Project, the Section 94-c permitting process, and the up-coming application. 

In accordance with New York State public health mandates relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, Northland Power, Inc. will be hosting this meeting via a web platform. To access the virtual public information meeting and live Q&A session on October 28th, 2021, attendees must register in advance online at the following link:

On October 28th at 7:00 PM, click the “Join” link from the meeting confirmation email. To join by phone for a “listen only” option, dial +1 (631) 992-3221 and enter the access code 662-728-696. A compilation of the meeting’s Q&A as well as the full video recording of the meeting will be posted on the Project website in the days following the event.

The purpose of the virtual community meeting is to educate the public about the proposed Project, including the anticipated application date and information regarding the future availability of local agency account funds.  Along with its application for renewable energy siting, Northland Power, Inc. must submit $1,000 dollars for each MW of capacity for use by local agencies and potential community intervenors, which for this project, totals $100,000. Any local agency or potential community intervenor can submit a request to the Office of Renewable Energy Siting for funding within thirty (30) days of the date of the application filing. Seventy-five percent of the local agency account funds shall be reserved for local agencies. Further details will be provided in subsequent notices within 60 days and 3 days of the filing of the application. Intervenor requests should be made to the Office of Renewable Energy Siting, Attention: Request for Local Agency Account Funding, 99 Washington Avenue, Albany, NY 12231-0001.
