Volunteers from several counties were scattered in the streets of Wellsville Saturday morning guiding walkers and runners through the village and up the hills to O’Connor Street.
It was all part of the Friends of Allegany Arc’s 5k Raffle Run/Walk to benefit the Arc of Allegany-Steuben.
There were runners and walkers of all ages as well as dogs in the event. Participants received t-shirts, prize bags, fruit and food after the race. But they also had water stops and cheering sections during the course.
Four Welsville high school students who have been active doing course runs this fall led the pack.
The village of Wellsville approved the event with a special permit.
Proceeds for the Friends of Allegany Arc’s 5k Raffle Run/Walk supported people with disabilities in Allegany County.
