The Allegany County Association for the Blind and Visually Handicapped would like to take this opportunity to Thank the Manley Foundation and Mr. Ron Sutton for their generosity and continued support. With the Manley Foundation Funds we are able to help our clients and have instituted an “on loan” program for aids and appliances specific to Low Vision which includes the expensive Electronic Magnifiers.

The Manley Foundation and other Organizations that support the Blind Association, such as, The Allegany County Legislature, the area Lions Clubs, Alfred-Alfred Station Community Chest, the Moogan Foundation, the Allegany County United Way and all the private individuals and businesses that support the Association has made our Mission Statement attainable;                                 

“ The Allegany County Association for the Blind is Committed to Assist the Visually Impaired Achieve Their Highest Level of Independence in All Levels of Their Lives”.

The Allegany County Blind Association is located at 26 Jefferson Street in Wellsville.  The office is open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  If you have low vision or know someone who is having trouble seeing, stop by or give our office a call (585-593-2023) to see what services are available.  We have a variety of aids and appliances including handheld magnifiers, talking watches, and a variety of electronic magnifiers to help our low vision clients with activities of daily living. Large print books and the NYS Talking Book Library are also available for avid readers!  Our staff will be happy to help you find the services, aids, and appliance that can fit your needs. In addition, Dr. John Rundquist, a Low Vision Specialist from Buffalo, has a low vision clinic at our office on the first Monday of each month. Contact us regarding an appointment. Any NYS resident who is legally blind may be eligible for services provided by the NYS Commission for the Blind. Those with low vision can receive help from this agency and Dr. Rundquist will recommend what is appropriate. We provide information and referrals by networking with other agencies in Allegany County and can help to find the right Agency for your specific needs.  Please stop in and see us!
