Gladys Dickinson Sweet, 100, Wellsville

Gladys Dickinson Sweet, 100, of 3244 Riverside Drive passed away Friday August 6, 2021, at the home of her daughter. She was born June 16, 1921 in Wellsville the daughter of the late Leon B. and Julia (Clark) Dickinson. On November 10, 1942 in Fayetteville, NC she married Robert C. Sweet who predeceased her on March 27th, 2011.

Gladys lived a full life in Wellsville, and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, spending time with friends, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered at the hospital for many years. She was also a member of the First Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Katheryn S. (Roger) Moyer of Wellsville, six  grandchildren, Chris (Bev) Moyer, Todd (Tammy) Moyer, Matthew (Laura) Sweet, Carrie (Robert) Perez, Beth (Greg) Day and Mark Sweet, nine great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren a daughter-in-law, Jackie Sweet of Wellsville, a brother-in-law, Ed Flurschutz of Wellsville, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Rae and Jim Franklin.

She was predeceased in addition to her parents and husband, by a son, David C. Sweet and her second mother, Emily S. (Slater) Dickinson, sister-in-law, Lois Flurschutz, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Marcella Sweet, and a daughter-in-law, Lisa Sweet.

Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc, 34 W. State Street in Wellsville. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery will be at a later date. Please consider memorial donations to the First Trinity Lutheran Church, or the Jones Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
