Court House Restoration Program, Walking Tour in Historic District, Live Music, Market Vendors to highlight this year’s festival

If you come to Heritage Days in Angelica for the focus on local history, you are sure to enjoy this year’s program. The festival takes place in the town square at the center of Park Circle National Historic District.

On the square sits the original Allegany County Court House (now Angelica Town Hall). Itself listed in the National Register, this landmark 200-year-old structure has undergone a major exterior renovation and repair. This project will be the subject of a program on Saturday afternoon in the nearby Grange building. Giving the presentation will be Gail Richardson, author of a recent publication on the history of the building, and a representative of R.E. Kelley, the Buffalo-area contractor that did the restorative masonry work. The program begins at 2:00 p.m. and has a $5 admission charge.

Continuing the local history emphasis, a guided walking tour of the central area of the Historic District will be given Saturday at 12:00 Noon and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.; the cost is $5.

In addition, the Heritage Days festival will feature a full lineup of live music in the Park Circle bandstand; a large art-craft-antique market; croquet tournament on the unique “roque” court; cornhole competition; Colonial Rooms museum open in Angelica Free Library; tour of old school building; wagon rides through the Historic District; theme basket auction and quilt raffle; a plenty of good food, including the Sunday chicken barbecue.
