David C. “Red” Mills, 88, Wellsville

David C. “Red” Mills, 88, formerly of E. Dyke St., passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Jones Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born in Wellsville on October 23, 1932 the son of the late Clifford and Luray (Bovee) Mills. In Wellsville, on Christmas Eve of 1955 he married his wife of sixty-five year, Constance Allen, who survives.

Red was a life long resident of Wellsville. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1951. Upon graduating he entered the workforce: from 1952 – 1983 he worked in the Grocery Store industry; then from 1983 – 1988 he owned and operated his D&C Moving in Wellsville; and then from 1988 until his retirement in 1995, he was employed for the Wellsville Central School Systems. Outside of work, he was an avid outdoors man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was also a member of the Wellsville Moose Lodge #601.

In addition to his wife, Connie, he is survived by: a daughter, Debora M. (James) Richardson of Wellsville; a son, Dale C. (Kathy) Mills of Fort Edward; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; a sister, Maureen Strauss of Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Dona Mills, Ann Gee, and Erma Allen; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: a son, Dennis A. Mills; a brother, Robert Mills; Brothers-in-law, Douglas Strauss, Robert Gee; as well as a brother and sister-in-law Elwood and Audrey Miller.
