Very few graduates of Wellsville High School have the resume of my cousin and childhood best pal. Since he started working the phones, selling hardware for Dell Computer in Austin, Texas, Stephen has been a standout. Most of his career has been based out of the Baltimore, Maryland area but the work as taken him all over the country. Harris was quick to rise through the Dell computer ranks as a specialist in higher education selling servers, networking, and related hardware. As Dell shifted into the software business, Stephen grew with the business, taking leadership roles in the firms public sector business.
In the last two decades Stephen has been come an industry leader, working on large government contracts that ranged from military applications to most recently, moving the federal government into the age of ‘cloud computing’. Now after 23 years of being on the cusp of technology, Harris is leaving Dell to join the tech-based private equity firm, Ellucian, who, “Ellucian guides over 2,700 customers in more than 50 countries—improving operations and enhancing the user experience for their faculties, staff, and over 26 million students.” Stephen’s new role will be Chief Revenue Officer at Ellucian.
On a more local note, Harris was the owner of Better Days Pub & Eatery on Main Street from 2001-2012, and is a well-known character on Cuba Lake where he owns a vacation home.
