Allegany County United Way Reaches 2020-21 Campaign Goal

It is with extreme gratitude that Allegany County United Way announces that we have exceeded our 2020-21 campaign goal by raising over $339,000. “It is the direct result of the generosity of community members, local small businesses, corporate and workplace donations that we can share this exciting news.

These funds will allow us to strengthen and support local programs that provide services such as childcare and after school care, mental health services, emergency food and housing solutions, and in-home care for our elderly population, to name a few.” ACUW Director Amanda Joyce-Phelps stated.

The past year was exceptionally challenging due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Allegany County families whom were already struggling to make ends meet now faced additional distress, making the need for the programs that ACUW helps to support even greater. Funds raised during 2019-20 campaign helped fund 23 local human services programs and impacted countless Allegany County individuals and families.

“We are incredibly grateful to every person that gave”, adds Joyce-Phelps. “Each and every donation helped us to reach our goal, no matter the size. Investing in our community is so important and we know that one person can make a difference. We wholeheartedly believe that the easiest and most effective way to invest in our community, and reach those who need it most, is by investing in Allegany County United Way. A healthy, strong community is one that comes together to help one another, especially in difficult times. So, thank you for helping to make Allegany County the best it can be, from the bottom of our hearts.”

While ACUW has closed its current campaign, fundraising efforts continue year round. “We will be holding our 8th annual Golf Tournament on May 22nd. Dust those clubs off and join us for a fun day of golf! Team and sponsorship opportunities are available. And later this summer, we plan to hold our 2nd annual beef raffle. We introduced this virtual fundraiser last fall, and it was a hit!” For more information on these fundraisers or to donate, call 585-593-0020.
