Support The “Field Of Flags” Display For Memorial Day in Wellsville

Memorial Day is a day set aside to honor all deceased members of the American armed forces. For the past eight years, the front lawn at Jones Memorial Hospital has been transformed into a “Field of Flags” to honor the memory of veterans who have died.

This year, the members of the sponsoring organizations – Jones Memorial Hospital, the Wellsville American Legion Post 702 and Auxiliary, the Sons of the American Legion and the Legion Riders – will place the flags on Armed Forces Day, May 15th. The field will remain in place through Memorial Day, May 31. Each flag will have a card with the deceased service member’s name and branch of service, and the name of the person who sponsored the flag.

If you would like to make a $5 donation in honor of your deceased veteran, stop by the Wellsville American Legion, 23 Jefferson Street, Jones Memorial Hospital switchboard. Due to the pandemic, flags can also be registered online at www.wellsvilleflags.org. Cards and donation must be returned by May 14th. Checks may be made out to Jones Memorial Hospital.

All proceeds from the Field of Flags are donated to LEEK Hunting & Mountain Preserve, an outdoor recreational facility for wounded and injured service members and veterans. LEEK is located in Northern Pennsylvania (www.leekpreserve.org).

For more information about the 2021 Field of Flags, stop in at the Wellsville Legion, email us at info@wellsvilleflags.org, or online at www.WellsvilleFlags.org.
