NYS State Police Report Incident Involving Olean City Police
On March 28, 2021, the NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation were requested by the Olean Police Department to investigate an incident involving the discharge of a firearm by a member of the City of Olean Police Department relative to a pursuit and attempted traffic stop in the City of Olean. The incident concluded with the suspect vehicle crashing in War Veterans Park on E. State St. in the city at approximately 3:30 a.m.
This is an active criminal investigation and no further information will be given at this time.
The NYSP Forensic Identification Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit has assisted in this investigation.
