Dale C. FRANCIS, 87, of Andrews Settlement, PA, died Friday, March 19, 2021 in his home.
Born August 7, 1933, in Williamsport, he was the son of Meade C. and Gertrude M. Perry Francis. On October 20, 1957, in Andrews Settlement, he married the former Nancy J. Haskell, who predeceased him on May 15, 2020.
A graduate of Ulysses High School, he served honorably with the U.S. Army from 1954 – 1956. Residing in California and Nebraska for 15 years, he returned to Pennsylvania and was employed by PennDOT for over 23 years. In retirement, he was employed as a truck driver by Kevin Smoker at Allegen Farms. Dale was a member of Andrews Settlement Baptist Church. He and his wife were foster parents to 14 children while living in California early in his marriage.
Surviving are: a daughter, Joy (Rick) Currier of Andrews Settlement; a son, Martin Francis of Coudersport; three grandchildren, Mollie Currier, Jacob Francis, and Jenevieve Francis; three sisters, Mary Jane Nye of Rogersville, TN, Patricia (Virgil) Nye of Genesee, and Carole Cary of Knoxville; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by two grandsons, Stephen R. Currier and Nathan L. Currier; two siblings, Helen Smith and Herbert Francis; and a sister-in-law, Dawn B. Haskell.
Friends may call at Andrews Settlement Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 2:00 PM. CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines apply. Rev. Dale Post will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Settlement Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of the Potter County Honor Guard.
