Chairman Curt Crandall along with Legislators Judy Hopkins and Karl Graves are officially not running for re-election to the county seat. The “retirements” in these county districts have opened the door to robust primary challenges across the county. Those primaries are scheduled for this summer and could decide who will replace Crandall as Chairman.
In District 4, Wellsville/Andover, Steve Havey and Gary Barnes will both be seeking re-election and will face at least three challengers in a primary election. Stay tuned for an interview with one of those aspiring to serve District 4 in Belmont. Here is the interview with Steve Havey, in case you missed it.
In District 3, Adam Cyr has started a campaign and from the limited conversation with Cyr, he has a strong message for the voters in Alma, Bolivar, Genesee, Independence, Scio, Willing, Wirt, and the Villages of Bolivar and Richburg. That is a big district and we hope to present his perspective in the near future. In the meantime you can follow him on Facebook : Adam Cyr For District 3 Legislator
As released on this site just days ago, all three District 5 Legislators will be seeking re-election. They do not run un-opposed though, and we hope to be able to provide detailed information on all of these candidates seeking to represent this important district( Alfred, Allen, Almond, Birdsall, Burns, Grove, West Almond, and Villages of Alfred, Almond, Canaseraga).
Any candidate for any office in Allegany County will be provided equal voice on this site. We won’t be running any political advertisements or endorsing candidates. All candidates are welcome to submit letter(s) to the editor or just shoot me an email to introduce yourself. The goal is to get the information from the candidates to the voters in order to create a more informed electorate. When we get the best people for the job, we all win!!
