“Simply stated, no other candidate has the breadth or depth of Dawn’s legal experience”
To the voters of Allegany County,
On June 23rd, Republican voters will be asked to choose a candidate for Allegany County Judge. If the past remains consistent, he or she will run unopposed in November and become the next Allegany County Judge. The term of office is ten years. Accordingly, the importance of this election is evident and I urge all registered Republicans to vote in the primary.
Three candidates are running for the office in the primary. All three are well-educated, have some legal experience, and appear to have the intellect, character, and demeanor to serve the people of our county as our next County Judge. However, in my opinion, one candidate stands head and shoulders above the other two. That candidate is Dawn Wildrick-Cole.
Dawn has been a part of our community most of her life. After graduating from high school in Cuba, she left our area to pursue her higher education but eventually returned to raise her family. Upon returning “home”, she became our Surrogate’s Court Clerk and then became a confidential law clerk to my colleague on the bench. She provided valuable assistance to both judges with Surrogate’s Court matters. She showed great proficiency as a confidential law clerk. She conferenced and mediated settlements in many cases especially in Family and Surrogate’s Courts. She ably assisted in preparing written decisions in many types of cases not only in Family and Surrogate’s Court but in County and Supreme Courts as well.
Dawn’s service as a town justice is important as well. Town Courts are where most good lawyers “learn the ropes” and hone their legal skills. Dawn is no exception. As a town justice, she has competently presided over criminal cases including penal law misdemeanors and violations as well as local court civil matters.
Simply stated, no other candidate has the breadth or depth of Dawn’s legal experience.
Dawn also has a solid record of community service to our community especially with the Allegany County Area Foundation. I served on the Board of the Foundation with Dawn for many years. She is a well-respected Board member whose insight, knowledge, and opinions are highly valued.
In closing, I believe the choice is clear. That is why I am endorsing Dawn Wildrick-Cole as our next County Judge.
Thomas P. Brown (former Allegany County Judge)
