Lyla M. Hoyt, 91, passed away Sunday morning June 14, 2026 at Elderwood at Hornell after an extended illness.
Lyla was born May 6, 1935 in Whitesville to the late Albert and Addie (Woodard) Baker. On December 17, 1955 she married Max J. Hoyt who predeceased her in July of 1987.
She was a life-long resident of Greenwood where she was a home maker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Surviving are four sons: Ronald (Denise) Hoyt of Canisteo, Bradley (Gina) Hoyt of Greenwood, Roger Hoyt of Andover and Brian (Kathy) Hoyt of Wolcott. 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by twin grandsons, David and Darin Hoyt, two brothers, Lyle and Eugene Baker and a sister Ila (Hoyt) Wood.
The family will receive friends from Noon-2:00 pm Wednesday June 17, 2026 at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Canisteo where a funeral will take place immediately following calling hours at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenwood, NY.
The family would like to express their heart felt gratitude to the staff at Elderwood at Hornell for the warm and kind care that was given to Lyla.
