Mayor Davis: A thoughtful balance between fiscal responsibility and the needs of our community
From the Village of Andover NY,
ANDOVER, NY – The evening of Tuesday, April 21st, after a 5:30pm public hearing allowing input from villagers, the Village Board of Andover unanimously passed their 2026/2027 proposed fiscal budget. After some hard work and deliberation, the board was able to propose and approve an annual budget in line with the previous year, preventing the need for any increase in Village taxes.
This was partly achieved by newly elected mayor Tom Davis opting to forgo his salary and have the money paid back into other village budget lines.
Mayor Davis makes the following statement:
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved in passing this year’s budget. It reflects a thoughtful balance between fiscal responsibility and the needs of our community. I also appreciate the collaboration and support from neighboring municipalities—working together strengthens all of our communities and allows us to share resources, ideas, and solutions more effectively.
One area that continues to deserve our collective attention is blight cleanup. Addressing neglected properties is not just about appearance; it’s about safety, economic opportunity, and community pride. I encourage continued investment in proactive code enforcement, rehabilitation programs, and partnerships with residents and local organizations to restore these spaces.
When we work together—across departments, municipalities, and neighborhoods—we can make meaningful, visible progress. Thank you again for your commitment to improving our community.”
Heads up! Two major farm, construction, and tool sales coming in May 2026:
