Grace United Church is hosting a Poetry Slam on November 3rd at 7:00 p.m. The Slam will take place at the 289 North Main Street church in Wellsville and is open to the public. Participants should arrive at 6:30 to sign up.
All poems must be original. The poet may not use props, costumes, prerecorded music, or musical instruments while performing. You are allowed to sing, beatbox, or make other sounds with your body. Memorization is not necessary. The poet may prefer to read from paper or a device. Each poet gets 3 minutes plus a 10-second grace period to read each poem. Three poems may be read.
No inappropriate content or hate speech is allowed. Play nice and bring your creativity to participate in “Graceful Phrases” which is part of the Graceful Arts Program. Prizes will be given to the top three winners.
The poet receives scores out of 10 from five randomly selected judges. The high and low scores are dropped and the middle three are added together, giving the poet a total score out of 30.
