Timothy J. Colligan has announced his candidacy for the position to fill a vacancy in this fall’s Village of Wellsville election.  I am a past Village Trustee having served from 1984 to 1992 under the administration of then Mayor Robert Gardner. In 1992, I ran unsuccessfully, to replace Mayor Gardner but came back in 1994 under the administration of then Mayor Sue Goetschius to again serve the Village as Trustee until 2002. This past September brought a vacancy to the Village Trustee’s seat when Ed Fahs was appointed as Mayor succeeding retiring Mayor Randy Shaylor.  I was appointed to that vacant seat in September. I am a registered Democrat and have the endorsement of the Village Republican committee as well as the Democrats.

Wellsville’s St. Patrick’s Day Headquarters!!

I am a life long resident of Wellsville having attended the Immaculate Conception School and graduated from the Wellsville High School and Alfred State College. I retired after forty years from the former Air Preheater Company and was most recently affiliated with the J.W. Embser Sons – now Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, LLC.  I reside with my wife Sue and together we have two children: Shane, who passed away in 2003, and Erin; along with her three children Brooklyn, Wheeler, and Tim Dahlgren, who all reside in Wellsville.

I have an extensive background in volunteering for the betterment of Wellsville.  I am a 50-year member and current Secretary of the Emerald Hook & Ladder Co; I am currently completing my 15th year as a member of the David A. Howe Public Library Board of Directors. I am the Vice Chair of the Babcock Theatre Preservation Society. I, along with my family, founded the Wellsville Satellite and Phone Center for the Variety Club Telethon serving the sick and handicapped children of Western New York for 40 years. Other memberships include being a Life Member of the Wellsville Elks and Wellsville Rod & Gun Club.  I am a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion and Ancient Order of Hibernians. I am also a member of the Wellsville Moose, and the Rushford Lake Conservation Club.

I think I have a solid background in how the Village operates.  Things haven’t changed much since I last left the board, other than the cost of all things. We have an excellent work force in all departments and if I am elected, I will complete the two-year term that I have been appointed to.  I am thankful for the confidence from the Wellsville Republican and Democratic Committees who have endorsed me. My family, especially my dad, thought it was important to give back to the community that has been so supportive to our family over the years.

I look forward to serving the residents of the Village of Wellsville and would appreciate their vote in November.
