The Section V Class B2 title is wide open, and the Wellsville Lions are getting key contributions they did not have available when the team started the season 0-3.
The Lions jumpd in the standings with a 68-51 win over Wayland-Cohocton on Wednesday night.

In Class B2, Hornell. who lost on a last-second 3-pointer to #2 LeRoy (8-5) retains the top spot. At three is Waterloo (6-6) and Wellsville (6-6) moved into the four seed ahead of Mynderse, Wayland-Cohocton and Midlakes.
Trent Green came back from injury and the team has two newcomers and several underclassmen who have made huge improvements.
One was sophomore Ben Helveston, who drained two big 3-pointers to help the Lions overcome a first quarter deficit and take a second quarter lead.

Jack Davis had two points on Wednesday, but 11 rebounds coming off the bench. He gave a huge spark with Helveston, Payson Root and Fletcher Kaye. In the fourth, Kaye’s 3-pointer ended any chance Way-Co had for a comeback.
“It’s just another example of how great of a group we have this year,” said Wellsville coach Tom Muska. “You can see how much better we are getting even in the second half. The guys can make adjustments, they play for each other and I really think this group is capable of doing something special this year. We just need to keep our heads down and keep working.”
Trent Green led Wellsville with 21 points and eight rebounds while fellow senior Nicolas Germain-Tardieu had 20 points, a dunk, four rebounds and three assists. Cole White had four, Blake Kalkoff had seven and junior Cole Densmore had five.
Alex Fedorchuck had 23 and three 3 -pointers while Cole Harggi had 14 for Way-Co.

Friday night at halftime of the boys’ game with Corning, the new Wellsville Hall of Fame will be inducted.
