Chaffee, a 1992 Wellsville graduate, will fill the seat vacated by Kathleen McKinley Murphy last month

During a regular school board of education meeting on November 4, local educator and graduate of Wellsville High School Mike Chaffee was appointed to fill the seat emptied about two weeks.
Chaffee is a teacher for the Andover School District, served his country in the U.S Marine Corps, and raised his family in the Wellsville School District. When one of the sitting board members asked him to consider serving on the volunteer board, it didn’t take long to say yes explains Chaffee:
“After a period of thought I realized that this was something in my wheel house and a way I could give back to the community where I was raised and where my children grew up.”
Wellsville Central School District released a statement welcoming Chaffee to the pride:

WELCOME to our newest school board member Mike Chaffee, seen here with superintendent Aaron Wolfe and school board president Jason Mattison. Mr. Chaffee was appointed by the board during Tuesday’s regular meeting. We are so excited that you’re part of the Wellsville Lions family!
