Adaptive baseball with Starbridge Services and everyone wins!!
From the Rushford Free Library,
The Rushford Free Library in conjunction with Starbridge Services invited the Rushford community to a Challenger Baseball game on Sunday evening, July 27th, hosted by Morgan and Alfred Reynolds of Pomeroy Reynolds Excavating and Don’s Septic Service in Rushford. The Reynolds’ beautiful ball field provided the perfect location for a fun game of baseball for special children from in and around the local area. The children participated in an adaptive game of baseball assisted by enthusiastic volunteer buddies and cheered on by family members and others from the community.
According to Program Coordinator of the Rushford Free Library, Julia Perrington, who organized the game, “We had a very successful and incredibly fun event. All of the participants, buddies and their supporters had a great time meeting new friends and playing baseball.” Kari Cayton, an education specialist for Starbridge and the coordinator of their family fun events, was pleased to be able to offer this experience as a means to advance the mission of Starbridge to partner people who have disabilities, their families, and others who support them with opportunities to achieve success. “I am grateful that our community was able to come together for not just a baseball game, but an experience that created wonderful memories.”
