Floodplain Repair on Dyke Creek Today

Share:

By Andrew Harris, 9/25/21

Despite the controversy over the bid process, Root Trucking and Logging started work today on the erosion that is threatening a Dyke Creek levy, on the east side of Wellsville. The work, being done in tandem by a large bulldozer and excavator, intends to stop the erosion on the north side of the creek, just behind Wellsville Hardware. The project was approved by the Wellsville town board in a unanimous vote during last week’s emergency meeting.

Since that vote the Wellsville Sun has published a reaction to the project by L.C. Whitford Co., and a recently retired code enforcement officer with a certificate in Floodplain Management. See these articles below the images of todays work to combat erosion.
