Allegany County government meets January 2, Harris to begin third year as Chairman

Demick will continue as Vice-Chair, Havey as Majority Leader

The first session of the Allegany County Legislature begins on Thursday January 2 in Belmont at 10am.  The meeting, as all county legislative meetings are, will be live streamed on the Allegany County Facebook page.  You do not need a Facebook account to view the meeting found here.

Legislators will gather for this important initial meeting of the year to organize the government leadership for the year ahead.  The slate of leaders is expected to be approved as the Allegany County Republican party has already announced that following legislators will lead the county in 2025:

W. Brooke Harris, Chairman

Kevin “Fred” Demick, Vice-Chair

Steven Havey, Majority Leader

All three men served these roles in 2024 and by almost every measure enjoy the support of the majority of the legislature and the Republican Party.  Chairman Harris, Vice-Chair Demick, and Leader Havey offered some insight into what happened in 2024 and what to expect for 2025 in our previous reporting:
