GALLERY: Olney Foust Embser Funeral Home sponsored epic artwork, community event draws massive crowds
Jones is back in Wellsville on October 20 at the Moose Club!
By Andrew Harris
For three days West Clarksville native Eric Jones spent hours on Main Street Wellsville doing what he is become famous for – Creating detailed art from a giant gourd, exhibition style. These open air sculptures have become events, tourist attractions, social media sensations, and television appearances. Jones is a Guinness World Record Holder, a Food Network celebrity champion, and has a massive social media following(that’s another story.)

He has a massive following and getting him to appear in the month October, let alone for the better part of a week, was a big deal for Olney Foust Embser Funeral Home in Wellsville. They partnered with the Fassett Greenspace for a location to host Eric, right on Main Street next to busy restaurants, shopping, and several churches.
All the stars lined up – Great weather, lots of spectators, and an amazing piece of art created by Jones. All ages showed up to see the wonder in person, traffic slowed and passengers gawked by the thousands. On Saturday, Eric hosted a Pumpkin Carving Contest event that was open to the community and brought a huge crowd to Main Street Wellsville. Check out the Gallery of the event below:
Jones took note that this was a special event:
“Thank you Wellsville! This was one of the most enjoyable Carving events of my career. Hundreds of people came out to carve a pumpkin, view the Pumpkin, and just be part of a wholesome community event. I love to see local businesses initiate projects that involve the community. Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation knocked it out of the The Fassett Greenspace Project park! A big thank you to everyone who came out including Pizza King of Wellsville and Freedom Valley Farms.. The The Wellsville Sun covered this fun project from the very beginning, and did a great job. #wellsvilleny“
The team at Olney Foust Ember Funeral Home were equally happy with the turnout teased that this might become an annual event!!
“What a great turn out we had today for The Great Community Pumpkin! Thank you to all that came, carved pumpkins, and supported Pizza King and SheBrews.
Thank you to Runnings for the pumpkins, Green & Green Consulting for the prize donations, and all of our staff for a great event. A big thank you to Eric Jones for an amazing carving! Let’s do it again next year!”
Eric Jones fans can catch Eric again in Wellsville on October 20th at the Wellsville Moose Lodge. FYI: You must register in advance
