All hands on deck from the FAST team to clergy helped stop the fire

A save by Wellsville volunteer firefighters stopped a hotel from going up in flames on Tuesday night. However, several families are displaced.
The smoke from the Crown Inn & Suites (formerly the Budget Inn) on 3306 Andover Road in Wellsville could be seen from Main Street but when firefighters arrived, the smoke was coming from the back of the motel.
A truck went through the yard of the Ludden family, cutting through Wightman Road, to quickly run hose to the building.
Fire officials said a hot water tank in the back is unofficially the cause. Fire investigators were on the scene.
Firefighters then hit the building in the back and the other trucks ran hose down a narrow driveway to the back of the motel, as the fire was spreading in the back of the rooms. The hotel has an L-shaped extension on the back for more rooms.
“It was a great save,” said Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Grag Day. “Right now, it looks like seven families are displaced.”
The families were watching from the back closer to the back of the office as firefighters went through the rooms, making sure there were no hot spots left in the walls. The power was turned off as well.
Interior attackmen firefighters from around Allegany County who are part of the FAST team were on the scene with other neighboring departments and the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps., were at the scene.
