Rock lovers from all walks of life gathered in Island Park on Saturday to help raise money for local charities through the power of music.
Rock’n for a Reason, organized by mother-son duo Zakkary and Heather Ueblacker along with Julia Davenport, held their first event to an astonishing success, surpassing their original goal of $3,000.
All donations made went to Meals-on-Wheels, Wellsville VA Clinic, Hart Comfort House, Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (ACASA), Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army in Wellsville, NY.

The festival featured many local vendors like B.D. Concessions, 2 Sisters and a Smoker and Lola Riri’s Cafe, a flea market, as well as the well-anticipated concert.

The performers were (in order): Buckwheat and the Wheating Crew, Nate Jacobs Band, Katie Lamberson & Co., John Wise, Chill Factor, Dad Season, Alden Moeller and the Familiar Faces, Last Nerve, Manik and Ballad at Midnight.

During the day, the music ranged all decades and all styles while staying relatively tame with genres like pop rock, folk, country and classic rock making frequent appearances. But as the sun started setting, the music kept getting more intense, going from punk to hard rock to heavy metal in a matter of seconds.

Whether your preferred rock is ‘Jailhouse Rock’ or ‘Rock Lobster’, everyone of all ages can (and did) have a blast listening to music and helping charities at the same time.
