The countdown is on! In just one week, the Alfred Box of Books library is thrilled to welcome Shake on the Lake, the acclaimed touring Shakespeare company from Silver Lake, NY, for an evening of live theater under the summer sky.
Join us on Wednesday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Village Bandstand for a lively performance of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors—a fast-paced comedy filled with mistaken identities, hilarious misunderstandings, and nonstop laughs. Grab your lawn chairs, bring your friends and family, and enjoy this 90-minute performance with no intermission.
Rain location: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the performance will move indoors to the Nevins Theater in the Powell Campus Center at Alfred University. Be sure to check our Facebook page or website for any weather-related updates.

Founded in 2011 by Josh Rice and Pilar McKay, Shake on the Lake began with a simple dream: bring Shakespeare to the shores of Silver Lake. What started as hometown performances has grown into a professional touring company serving rural communities throughout Upstate New York.
Today, Shake on the Lake presents its annual Summer Shakespeare Tour, winter productions, educational programs in schools, creative placemaking initiatives, and partnerships like Voices UnCaged, bringing theater arts into correctional facilities.
