The Wellsville Little League season is heating up in July, with the 12u All-Stars hosting the final championship round for District 2 on Monday and the Little League Junior League (ages 12-14) and Senior League (14-16) are getting rolling.
On Monday night, July 6 at Hank Sinkey Field, the Wellsville 12u All-Stars will host the finals of the New York District 2 bracket. Wellsville is undefeated at 3-0 and needs just one win to advance to the Sectional tournament, the last step before the NYS State Final 4.
They will face either ECLV (Ellicottville-Cattaraugus-Little Valley) or Springville. One of those teams will have one loss and will have to beat Wellsville twice to advance.

WELLSVILLE 12, PORTVILLE 0
Great pitching and defense led the Wellsville Junior League to an opening night victory over Portville, 12-0 on Thursday night.
Cameron Malatesta threw four innings of one-hit ball with five strikeouts and did not walk a batter for the win. At the plate he scored two runs and stole two bases.
Eli Sassaman completed the shutout, throwing two innings and striking out two. At the plate he had one hit, scored and stole two bases.
Also for Wellsville, Hunter Carl (two runs, two stolen bases), Parker Harris (run, two stolen bases) and Claytin Loucks had hits. Mason Wieszczyk reached four tims and stole five bases, Timothy Dahlgren reached twice and stole three bases, Bentley Monahan stole a base and AlexZander Torpey scored and stole two bases.
Ethan Trimble, playing in his first-ever game, scored, stole a base and helped throw a runner out at third to preserve the shutout. He was awarded the game ball for his efforts.
