ALFRED, NY – Alfred University announces the appointment of Todd Harrison as new dean of the College of Business. Harrison, whose appointment is effective today (Wednesday, July 1), takes over for the retiring Mark Lewis.
Harrison comes to Alfred from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, OH, where he served as dean and Adams Family Endowed Chair of Heidelberg’s School of Business from fall 2024 to spring 2026. As dean, he led Heidelberg’s largest academic unit, with more than 400 undergraduate students and more than 60 graduate students. He engaged university and community partners to expand student experiences and opportunities for business school growth; managed the school’s operating and endowment budgets; directed and mentored eight full-time and 10 part-time faculty; and led the school’s assessment and Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accreditation efforts.
Prior to Heidelberg, Harrison served in leadership positions in the School of Business at St. John Fisher University, as interim associate dean (2022-24) and assistant dean (2021-22). As interim associate dean, he led development of the school’s continuous improvement report and the organization of supporting materials for the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) reaccreditation process and guided the school’s proposal of a business-focused, on-line degree completion program for adult learners. As assistant dean, he built a new student recruitment strategy that led to the largest incoming class ever, with first-year student deposits increasing by 50 percent.
“We are pleased to welcome Todd Harrison as dean of our College of Business,” said Beth Ann Dobie, provost and chief operating officer. “Todd’s record of innovation in previous leadership positions will serve him well as he guides the continued growth and advancement of our business programs.”
“The College of Business at Alfred has built something truly distinctive,” Harrison commented. “Dean Lewis and the entrepreneurial faculty have been continually finding innovative ways to connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities through applied projects, industry partnerships, and meaningful student engagement. That culture of innovation creates an environment where both students and faculty can thrive, and I am very excited to help build upon that momentum.”

Harrison served on the faculty at Fisher’s School of Business for 17 years: as department chair and associate professor of sports management from 2011-21 and as assistant professor of sports management (interim department chair, 2006) from 2004-11.
From 2005-24, Harrison led or helped lead the organization of the Buffalo Bills training camp at St. John Fisher, as director of camp operations (2014-24) and assistant director of camp operations (2005-13). He was founder and served as chief operating officer of Flower City Union, a men’s professional soccer club in Rochester.
Harrison earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management (minor in business administration) from Slippery Rock University in 1999; a master’s degree in sport and exercise management from The Ohio State University in 2000; and his doctorate in sport and exercise management from The Ohio State University in 2004.
“Higher education, and business education, are at their best when they prepare students not just for their first job, but for a lifetime of leadership, innovation, and service. Alfred’s College of Business is uniquely positioned to do exactly that by combining exceptional faculty, immersive experiential learning, and a close-knit community that empowers students to pursue bold ideas,” Harrison said. “I am honored to join this remarkable team and institution and look forward to working alongside our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners to continue elevating the college’s impact.”
