TRGHS Board President, Annie Comstock presenting check to Ellisa Goetschius, Chair of the Babcock Theatre Groups Puppet Project

From the TRGHS,

Wellsville, New York.  Ann Comstock, president of the Thelma Rogers Genealogical and Historical Society of Wellsville (TRGHS), recently presented a check to support the new Santa Parade Puppet Workshops, a community arts project organized by the Babcock Theatre group.

The gift was made possible through partial proceeds from the inaugural Jingle & Glow event. TRGHS board members shared that there is no single organization which can preserve and promote local history alone and donated partial proceeds to five other local organizations, including the Fassett Greenspace, Emerald Hook & Ladder Co., Wellsville Junior Firefighter Program, Woodlawn Cemetery and the David A. Howe Public Library.

The Santa Parade Puppet Workshops, chaired by Babcock Theatre volunteer, Elissa Goetschius, will organize local residents, artists, and community organizers to join together to create large-scale puppets at free workshops throughout the year.  These will culminate in a festive community performance during the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce Hometown Santa Parade in November.

Lunch & Dinner, Tue-Sat.

In addition to the donation from TRGHS, this puppet project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Arts Council for Wyoming County.

“The Thelma Rogers Genealogical Historical Society (TRGHS) is excited to support the historic Babcock theatre group on this visionary puppet initiative. Said Jackie Comstock, board member and chair of Jingle & Glow.   “In addition to the 2nd Annual Jingle & Glow lighting up the Fassett Greenspace for the entire holiday season, these spectacular puppets will elevate the Chamber’s 2026 Santa Parade into an even more memorable celebration that will delight families and people of all ages” said Jackie.

Planning is now underway for the 2nd Annual Jingle & Glow 2026, organized by the TRGHS, which promises to once again bring the community together for a festive and meaningful holiday experience at the Fassett Greenspace.

Sponsorship opportunities for Jingle & Glow 2026 are also available. Those interested in supporting this new community tradition in its second year are encouraged to contact Jackie Comstock for more information at 585-593-4551.  The TRGHS is a non-profit 501c3 organization and all gifts and sponsorships are tax-deductible.  The TRGHS is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Wellsville and the surrounding area.
