Division Titles Decided in Academic All-Stars Competition

STEUBEN COUNTY- The final night of regular Academic All-Stars was held on Monday night with division titles being decided. 

In the Large School Division Corning-Painted Post came away with a victory in a close match over Hornell 38 – 36. This gave them an overall record of 3-1, which tied Bath’s record of 3-1.  A Tie Breaker round was played between the two teams, and Bath managed a 5 – 3 victory which gave them the Large School Division title.  

The Medium-Large School Division saw Canisteo-Greenwood earning the Division title by defeating Naples 77 – 42. Their season winning record was a perfect 6-0. In other match play Campbell-Savona bested Addison 25 –10.  

Alfred-Almond came out on top in the Medium-Small group with a victory over Arkport 88 – 46. With that win the team finished the season with a perfect record of 6 – 0, and earned them the Medium-Small School Division Championship.  Hammondsport won their match against Prattsburgh 67 – 17. 

The Small School Division ended with J-T defeating Canaseraga 56 – 47. This gave them the Divisional Title that Canaseraga held for two years running. Avoca was able to top Bradford    44 – 35 in their match.  

Our final Championship Matches will be held on Monday, March 30 in the Bath Haverling High School Auditorium. Alfred-Almond will face J-T for the Small School Championship, and Bath and Canisteo-Greenwood will battle for the Large School title.
