A long-standing family tradition of volunteer service continues in Wellsville as Brielle Kemp becomes the fourth generation of her family to serve the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Company.
Born and raised in Wellsville, Kemp recently joined the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Company, carrying on a legacy that spans more than six decades. Her great-grandfather, Ralph “Bucky” Fanton, joined Genesee Hose Company #5 in 1961 and belonged until his passing in 2002. Her grandfather, Randy Kemp, joined in 1975, followed by her father, Josh “Stumpy” Kemp, who became a member in 2002.
In 2017, Genesee Hose Company #5 and McEwen Hose Company #4 merged to form the present-day Wellsville Volunteer Fire Company. With her membership in 2026, Brielle Kemp continues the family’s long history of service to the community.
Volunteerism runs deep throughout Kemp’s family. She has been a Junior Firefighter with the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department since 2024. Her mother, Nichole Burdick, father and stepmother, Josh and Erika Kemp, are members of the Wellsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Her grandmother, Sue Kemp, is a Life Member of the Wellsville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and her aunt, Janine Linza, is a former member of McEwen Hose Company #4.
The family’s dedication to emergency services extends even further through her father’s maternal side. Her great-grandfather, Calvin Fuller, served with the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department in Pennsylvania until passing away in 2019, while her great-grandmother, Patricia Fuller, was a Member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, passing away in 2013.
With generations of service behind her, Brielle Kemp now carries forward a proud family legacy of commitment to volunteerism and community service.
