Route 417 between Wellsville and Andover re-opened

Trees and power lines on County Road 12/Elm Valley, Warming centers opening

This scene in Elm Valley caused a prolonged power outage and fast work by first responders and National Grid crews. Despite the subzero temperatures and upwards to -40F windchills, the road was re-opened and power set to restore about 330pm.

About 80 customers were without power in the Elm Valley area after a tree fall sent electric lines into Route 417.

Emergency crews are on site and National Grid is responding to begin repairs, currently estimated to be about 1pm. Meanwhile with temperatures hovering near zero and wind chills well below zero

Warming Centers Brookside Wesleyan Church and the Andover Volunteer Ambulance bay in Andover NY in Wellsville are now closed. The David A. Howe Public Library in Wellsville is open until 7pm. If you still need a warm place, call 211 for assistance.
