Albert C. “Chip” “Al” WINSLOW, Jr., 92, of Wellsville, NY, formerly of Andover, died Sunday, February 1, 2026, in his home.
Born December 28, 1933, in Freeport, he was the son of Albert Chapin Winslow and Louise Chase and raised by Albert and Margaret Holdridge Winslow. On December 21, 1958, in Centerpoint, Long Island, he married Judith E. Benjamin, who survives.
A graduate of Huntington High School in Huntington, NY, he began his studies at Paul Smith’s College. Upon graduating from PSC, he began his horticulture and landscape studies at University of Rhode Island. After graduating from URI, he worked designing landscaping for residential and commercial properties on Long Island. Around 1963, he decided to attend the University of Massachusetts and attained his Masters+ degree. He accepted a job at Alfred State College in the Horticulture Department, where he rose to the level of professor and taught for over 25 years.
Al grew up in Boy Scouts and Explorer Units attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and working at Camp Baiting Hollow in the summers. During high school and college, Al played trumpet and French horn in his own band and a few others to pay for his education. Over the years, he enjoyed duck and deer hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, reading, playing cards, plants and talking to anyone about them.
Surviving besides his wife, Judy, are: three children, Anita (Douglas) Stack of Middletown, David (Fran) Winslow of Hollow Rock, TN, and Amy Winslow of East Rochester; five grandchildren, Abigail Winslow, Kenneth Stack, Katherine (Darryl) Desiderio, Patricia Stack, and Daniel (Guilin) Stack; great-grandchildren, Corvin, Zoeii, Haedyn, Ellie, Pheonix, + Julien; and two nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Richard E. Winslow.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Olney-Foust & Embser Funeral Homes & Cremation, 34 West State Street, Wellsville. Memorials may be made to Paul Smith’s College or American Heart Association.
